Pursuit of Happiness

We believe we have the right to pursue happiness and it is that thought that has us all messed up. We think of getting to happiness as a journey. We think it is something that we have to work toward. However, that's not how happiness works.

If you are looking at it as a journey then you are thinking you will be happy after you accomplish whatever it is that you see as success. The biggest problem is that we are never satisfied with our success. Once we accomplish one success we find a new one. If happiness is always on the other side of success we will never get there.

Rather than thinking we need to pursue happiness, we need to think of happiness as something we can obtain now. Something that is completely separate from whatever our definition of success is.

Happiness shouldn't be a pursuit, but rather part of who you are. Yes, it is a process, but it isn't one that needs to be you seeking after it.
